I have a wish
I have a wish
It is so small, though overflowing
It is so great, and though retreating
It will break me into pieces
It will shatter every wall
It gives me strength, keeps me alive
- it is all I’ve ever known.
I have a shadow
It is so dark, though brings the light
It’s so attached, though I lose it every time
It will follow me through dreams
It will bring me home just fine
It haunts the sweetest memories
- it won’t leave me alone.
I have a mind
It is so round, though edges pierce me
It is so full, though fiercely is its void
It will present the wish, the shadow
It will sometimes combine the two
And if it’s capable of doing so
- it will, mind you, be peaceful or forlorn.
